Analytics Deep Dive: Weekly Pattern Recognition
How to read your analytics beyond surface metrics — finding the patterns that actually drive business decisions.
Analytics Deep Dive: Weekly Pattern Recognition
Daily checks tell you what happened. Weekly deep dives tell you why it happened and what to do about it. This deeper analysis session (30–45 min, once per week) is where real marketing intelligence is built.
The Weekly Analytics Agenda
- Traffic sources breakdown — which channels grew or declined week-over-week?
- Top content analysis — which pages/posts drove the most engagement, time-on-site, and conversions?
- Funnel analysis — where are users dropping off between discovery and conversion?
- Audience demographics — are you reaching your intended audience or drifting?
- Device and location data — any surprises in where your audience comes from?
GA4 Reports to Know
| Report | Where in GA4 | Key question to answer |
|---|---|---|
| Landing pages | Engagement → Landing page | Which entry pages have the best engagement? |
| User journey | Explore → Funnel exploration | Where do users abandon the conversion path? |
| Traffic acquisition | Acquisition → Traffic acquisition | Which channels bring quality traffic (not just volume)? |
| Conversions | Conversions → All events | Which events (form fill, click, purchase) are trending? |
The Insight-to-Action Rule
Every analytics session must produce at least one concrete action. Data without action is just noise. End each session by writing: "Based on this week's data, I will [specific action] because [specific data point showed] [specific pattern]."
The 80/20 of analytics: 80% of your business results come from 20% of your content, keywords, and campaigns. Your weekly deep dive exists to identify that 20% — then double down on it and cut everything else.
